Why Computer Labs

The Government of Nepal endorsed the Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Education Master Plan (2013 – 17) and the School Sector Education Plan (2021 – 2030). The main objective of introducing ICT in learning is to narrow down the digital gap between the children from poor and well-off families by developing ICT infrastructure, human resources, digital contents, and system enhancement. UMN’s main role is to contribute to the government plan, therefore, UMN, in partnership with EduTech Nepal, has been working to support to meet the ICT based learning related goals through establishing computer labs in public schools and training teachers and students on the use of ICT in learning. Over the last ten years, 64 computer labs have been established in the schools of Bajhang, Doti, Dhading, Kapilvastu, Morang, Rukum and Sunsari through our partnership with EduTech Nepal. The main purpose of this venture is to aid in providing quality education, accelerate their learning across different subjects in schools through ICT to the children from rural communities and thereby, addressing the root causes of poverty.
